Stories You Don’t Know 04:42
written by Don Stevenson
Eddie bought a three month pass on the Greyhound bus
Paid for by his disability
Ed put his hat on the sidewalk in the Daytime
The voices in his head said Eddie out here We’re free
People walk by avoiding eye contact
If they knew who he was they’d probably ask for an autograph
Eddie’s missing a couple teeth now
He likes to smile but he don’t like to laugh
Eddie don’t like it that life’s so hard
When he remembers he’s sleeping up on the bus
Ed could go home if he wanted to
But he really wants to stay away from us
In every home there’s a story you don’t know
Look around people just trying to hold on
Talk about it you know theres’s no shame
Things might change or they might remain the same
Mary called to make the appointment
She said me and my daughter Margaret we’ll be there
Come on by about ten o’clock on Wednesday
We need a little remodel and repair
Mary no longer lived in the apartment
Its been years since they sold the condo
Mary made the call from Shasta Pines
She thought it was a long time ago
There was something she couldn’t quite remember
So she just let it go
She walked down the hall to play bingo
She still might get five in a row
In every home theres’s a story you don’t know
Look around there people trying to hold on
Talk about it you know there’s no shame
things might change or they might remain the same
